Overseas Voting: Improving Military and Overseas Election Data Collection

In 2015, the Overseas Voting Initiative established the EAVS Section B Working Group to identify and recommend ways to reduce the burden of reporting requirements for Section B of the Election Assistance Commission’s Election Administration and Voting Survey (EAVS) on state and local election officials. This report outlines working group’s recommendations related to the redundancy and wording of questions in Section B, the development of a data standard for capturing EAVS section B data and the need for greater outreach to help jurisdictions better understand and report data to the EAVS.
